Wow, just what the neighborhood needed! Stopped in here with my SO and had a lovely dinner and flights of wine. For anyone looking for great food, interesting and diverse wines, and a upscale chic but casual atmosphere, can't recommend Ungrafted enough. The caviar arepa, scallop ceviche, fried chicken, & octopus are all must tries... but the star of the show might just be the delicious lamb chops! Can't wait to come back for a weeknight or date night.
MoreThe three stars is for the excellent and knowledgeable service and the wine she chose, but all the wines on the bottle list were way out of my price range. Even the wines by glass were mostly in the $18-20 range. I get it, it’s SF, but I expect a better range from a wine focused restaurant. The food was good. Not filling, but ok. Come here if u want small nibbles and really good, but expensive wine.
MoreUngrafted has become our, well, everything. Blind tasting on Mondays? Check. Sunday evening drink with friends? Check. Saturday morning brunch? Check. Failed take out order from the neighborhood burger spot? Head to Ungrafted. We have befriended customers, owners, and employees alike. The service at Ungrafted is unrivaled. I feel so at home whenever I'm there, and I always leave feeling better than I did walking in. Chris, Rebecca, Naomi and company have crafted something truly special.
MoreGreat restaurant with amazing wine list! Service is impeccable. Get the octopus!
A lovely place for some small plates and wine
Great bartender, good choices by the glass. The food sounded wonderful, but we had a previous engagement. We'll be back.
MoreWine is fun! The selection is on point.
Really wanted to like this place more, but the food kind of fell flat. Granted, I only was here once, but just some real misses. The industrial ambiance is really nice, inviting and not sterile as you might expect, and the service and staff were outstanding and attentive. An extensive wine list by the glass as well as quite a few beers/ales. So the food - the cajun-style fried chicken, while nicely spicy, was really fried boneless chicken strips and not very juicy - more like an appetizer plate than an entree. The biscuits that came with the chicken were hard and kind of doughy, not a biscuit at all. And a bit pricey for what you got. The salads were very nice as were the vegetable side dishes. I will go back to try the other entrees just to be fair, but they seriously need to redo the fried chicken, or at least serve it with real biscuits - that would help a lot!
MoreThe owner is awesome! Great food too.
This restaurant is good, with careful focus on service but fell flat on their pre-fixe menu for NYE. My food was very salty. They also didn't provide a proper portion for the tasting menu so that all 4 of us could try the food. We did the wine pairing which didn't do much to elevate the food. The wines were good. The staff was friendly and we learned that they are going have a new chef soon. Hopefully they find their rhythm.
MoreGreat addition to the neighborhood. Knowledgeable and friendly staff members...took off 1 star because I’d love to see some wines available on the menu at a lower price point. Neat thing about this place is they also sell wine to go, meaning you can just pop in to peruse the selection and purchase a bottle to bring home. Will be back!
MoreAmazing food and wine. Chris was an amazing host and the chef did her thing. Great for dropping in for a nice lunch and/or dinner.
MoreWe stopped in here for some great wine and dinner. First we started with the za'atar pull-apart bread which was delicious! I had a small flight of three red wines that were fantastic. We also ate the fried chicken and I especially loved the hot sauce that came with it! My partner and I also split a half bottle of beaujolais that was yummy.
MoreAmazing! This has become my go to spot in the Dogpatch. The staff is INCREDIBLE; they’re so knowledgeable and helpful in selecting the perfect bottle of wine with food to match. Their food is spectacular, their wine is phenomenal, their service is flawless. What’s not to love!
MoreSuper cool eats! Love the decor and we had awesome service!
We had a small dinner party and everything was fantastic. Ordered a sampling of various small plates, but the assorted mushroom tempura are a must. We opted to get a couple orders of the Cajun fried chicken with a biscuit for each. So tasty. This place has great atmosphere and a incredible selection of wine. What a great addition to the neighborhood.
MoreSpacious wine bar in the burgeoning foodie stretch of the Dogpatch. Impressive selection of wines by the bottle and glass, and a growing list of well composed food items on the menu. A new venture by local sommeliers deserving of support.
MoreWE ARE neighbors to this lovely neighborhood spot.Since Ungrafted has opened it's been a Jewel in Dogpatch, with an excellent selection of Wines and pairings. On our visit We both devoured Succulent lamb Burgers that where Delicious. The Bartender was in top form and with expertise made our trip to Ungrafted,One of many more to Come!WE will bring friends, family and Colleagues it's such a lovely place.I think We have Something wonderful Here UNGRAFTED.
More3.5 StarsGreat open space Wide range of wine options Menu is concise, a tad on the pricier side in comparison to the area combined with portion size but at least delivers on flavor and execution The upper area appears to be great for large parties to reserve outHope they start to offer more affordable wine by the glass options + snacks....HH 3-6pm would be perfect!Overall ThoughtsSee the potential here but not somewhere I can frequent often
MoreWorst customer service ever. I had a 6:30p reservation and arrived at 6:25p with two people waiting in front of me. For the next 15 minutes, nobody came to check us in or to say a single word to us, despite many staff walking around doing their jobs - no staff would even make eye contact with us. The people in front of me said they had been waiting 10 minutes prior to my arrival. I heard the guests at the table to the entrance complain about slow service and the long wait for their food. After another 10 minutes of no contact, I left, completely ignored.
MoreThis was a good party venue.
Only been here a couple of times so far, but I’m going to be a regular. Fantastic selection by bottle or glass and some of the most knowledgeable and friendly wine service you can find (even by the high SF standard). Food is delicious too, but that’s not the primary reason to go here.
MoreCool atmosphere, over priced, small portions and okay food but not great.
The wine was some of the best I've ever had. The staff is warm and welcoming. They have toys for kids, which was awesome for us and out of the way enough that it doesn't bother others.
MoreFood was tasty but very expensive for the small portion sizes. I’d expect prices to be 30% less at these sizes, even in SF. Service was good.
MoreChris is amazing. Ask him about wines. You'll be edified and delighted. Great food too!
MoreLarge airy space with excellent service, extensive selection of wines by the bottle, and tasty dishes. Some of the dishes (beef tongue) in the smaller side. Octopus adobo was substantial and an highlight. Pull apart bread was a little doughy. But this is such a great spot for meeting friends and have a couple glasses that it’s hard not to give 5 stars. Lots of seating for groups.
MoreI really loved the industrial modern vibe and expansive space. The service staff were all super friendly and helpful. The small plates were tasty, but quite small and over priced.
MoreNew, fun wine bar in the neighborhood! Great wine selection & very knowledgeable staff. Service is hit or miss (which is to be expected in a new restaurant). The menu is fun and full of small plates that can be shared. They also offer a wine club and wine available for retail, if you need a nice bottle to take home :)
MoreVery friendly waitstaff. All of them are apparently sommelier. I learned about a new blend that i wanted to try and was having a hard time finding it and Dustin showed us one on the list that was French but exactly what we wanted. He was definitely very well versed in his wine knowledge. The food was not as expansive a menu as i had hoped for but everything was very delicious. Especially their Octopus and Cauliflower dish. Hm... Looking forward to visiting again soon.
MoreFriendly, knowledgeable staff serving a broad selection of wine, beer, sake, and food. Relaxed, tasting room atmosphere combined with an impressive collection. Stop by for a class or chat with Chris, the sommelier behind the bar. A well-rounded menu offers plenty of pairings to the numerous choices of fine wines. Attentive service and superb selection.
MoreReally great food, wonderful staff. Amazing.
We were able to sit in the back and not hear everyone's conversations. The food and the champagne sampler were tasty. I'd recommend having more items on the menu, but what my husband and I ordered was good.
MoreAmazing atmosphere.
Unbelievable selection of wines, great food and service. Casual vibe too, which I loved.
MoreA very nice selection of wines and small plates to match them. Cool music, cozy place!
